Three Skaters Join Wolves Roster

The Vancouver Canucks have assigned forwards LUDWIG BLOMSTRAND and Kellan Lain to the Chicago Wolves. In addition, the Wolves have recalled defenseman Jeremie Blain from the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads.

BLOMSTRAND appeared in 44 games in Sweden’s first division with Djurgardens and Almtuna this season. The 20-year-old forward accrued 8 penalty minutes in 14 games with Djurgardens and 19 points (13G, 6A) in 30 games with Almtuna.

The Uppsala, Sweden, native and fourth-round draft pick of the Canucks (120th overall) in the 2011 National Hockey League entry draft spent the 2011-12 season with Djurgarden of the Swedish Elite League, earning an assist in 18 games.

LAIN registered 8 goals, 16 points, and 111 penalty minutes in 32 games with Lake Superior State University (CCHA) this season. The 23-year-old forward was signed by the Canucks as a free agent on March 16 after he completed his junior campaign with the Lakers.

Overall, the Oakville, Ontario, native accumulated 21 goals, 39 points, and 210 penalty minutes in 108 games with Lake Superior State spanning three seasons (2010-13).

BLAIN ranks second on Idaho and shares 11th among ECHL defensemen with 31 points (7G, 24A) in 47 games with the Steelheads during his professional debut this season.

The 21-year-old blueliner also has tallied an assist and 8 penalty minutes in 10 games with the Wolves during two stints with the team this year.

Prior to turning pro, the Longueuil, Quebec, native amassed 116 assists, 132 points, and 218 penalty minutes in 211 QMJHL tilts with Victoriaville and Acadie-Bathurst from 2008-12.

The Wolves look to snap a three-game winless streak when they host the Toronto Marlies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22, at the Allstate Arena. For more information, or to buy tickets to Wolves home games, visit chicagowolves.com or call 1-800-THE-WOLVES.
